Carlos Cardoso is graduated in Social Anthropology and Philosophy, having acquired his PhD in Philosophy at the Friedrich-Schiller University, Germany. He was Director of the National Institute for Studies and Research of Guinea-Bissau (INEP). He was Director of the Research Department at CODESRIA. Recently, he founded the Amílcar Cabral Centre for Social Studies. Carlos Cardoso teaches at the Catholic University of Guinea-Bissau and is the author and co-author of several books and articles on topics related to Guinea-Bissau and Africa, in the disciplines of History, Political Sociology and Social Anthropology.
