Carl Heneghan

Carl Heneghan is Director of the Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine at the University of Oxford and a clinical epidemiologist with expertise in evidence-based medicine, research methods, and evidence synthesis expertise.

His research interests include non-communicable diseases such as cardiovascular disease, and he currently chairs WHO guidelines on self-care and cardiovascular disease risk. He is also interested in the treatment of communicable diseases in primary care.

He has expertise in medical device regulation, diagnosis and screening and avoidable le harms and has over 400 peer-reviewed publications

He is a clinical advisor to two UK All Parliamentary Party Groups, an adviser to the WHO clinical trials registry platform and a founder of the AllTrials campaign; twice he was voted one of the top 100 NHS clinical leaders by the HSJ. In 2018 he was awarded NIHR Senior Investigator status.
