Episode 1 – Motorbike Taximen and the Weekly Market

In this first film, Ndiaye takes us to meet the young men with degrees working as motorbike taximen, and a vendor at the market speaks of the impacts of price rises on the migration crisis as the young leave in droves to try their hand at crossing the Mediterranean.

Collateral Global has commissioned 6 short films from the Senegalese journalist and photographer Mamadou Ndiaye. These will look across the range of impacts of the political, economic and social responses to the Covid-19 pandemic in Senegal, a series called ‘Daily Life in Post-Pandemic Senegal’.
