Piero Stanig (Ph.D., Columbia 2009) is Associate Professor of Political Science at Bocconi University. He was also a Visiting Associate Professor at the National University of Singapore (2022-2024) and Yale-NUS (2022-2023). Before Bocconi, he taught at NYU, the LSE, and the Hertie School of Governance.
His research primarily focuses on two areas: the relationship between structural economic change and the realignment of electoral arenas in Western democracies; and the material drivers of environmental concern and environmentalist voting behavior.
His work has appeared in the American Political Science Review, the American Journal of Political Science, the Journal of Economic Perspectives, the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, and Nature Climate Change, among others. He is the author, with Gianmarco Daniele, of Fallimento Lockdown (Bocconi Editore).
