The impact of COVID-19 Lockdown on the delivery of Healthcare Services & Programmes in Nigeria – Wellington Oyibo
This conference is the first anywhere in the world to consider collectively the impacts of Covid suppression measures in Low- and Middle-Income Countries. The conference brings together scholars from the health and social sciences who have been working on questions regarding education, gender, socioeconomic impacts and political economies related to the Covid response. While there has been much focus on these questions in High Income Countries, there has yet to be a sustained and inter-regional discussion from Low- and Middle-Income Countries. This conference addresses this disparity.

About the Speaker
Wellington Oyibo, born in Sapele, Delta State, Nigeria, is a Tropical Disease Specialist, a Professor and Consultant Medical Parasitologist at the College of Medicine of the University of Lagos, Lagos, Nigeria. He also worked at the Faculty of Medicine, as Assistant Professor at the Addis Ababa University, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. He is Director, Centre for Transdisciplinary Research in Malaria and Neglected Tropical Diseases as well as Co-Director, Centre for Environmental Standards and Social Inclusion (CoESESI) of the University of Lagos. His major research focus is on malaria and neglected tropical diseases and serves as Key Opinion Leader and Key Expert to several organizations nationally and internationally.
