Still Life – Photography competition results

We are delighted to announce the winners of our lockdown photography competition. Over the course of that period mainstream media served up a stream of supposedly ‘iconic’ images, including photographs of grandparents tearfully greeting their grandchildren through glass screens; shoppers dutifully lining up outside supermarkets; wild-eyed protestors displaying deranged messages; and, of course, ‘frontline’ doctors bedecked in scrubs and surgical masks. Thus, a virtual world of victims, heroes and villains unfolded before our eyes, in which many of us projected images onto social media of ourselves acting as one or other.

There are, however, more enduring images that arguably provide a more accurate account of the drudgery of isolation, the pain of separation and the absurdity of many of the measures. Congratulations to our winning entrants for providing images along these lines that help set the record straight.
