Counsellor Termination

I had been working as a student counsellor in a higher education provider in Melbourne for 3 years. I supported International students who were struggling during the lockdowns in 2020 and 2021. I was working fulltime from home with a daily client load of 5-8 clients a day. The students were all struggling. Financial issues, difficulties with isolation, homesickness, worry for their families, struggles with online learning, increased mental health challenges. I did my very best to help the students day in day out, working longer than expected hours.

And then the vaccine roll out and the vaccine mandate were enforced. I just had delta covid. I did not spend one day in bed and was gardening throughout it. I used vitamin treatments and chinese medicine to assist. I had the influenza virus 8 years prior that rendered me bed ridden for 3 weeks. Covid felt like a common viral cold. 

I received a termination of employment letter from my employer as I had not been covid vaccinated and had not sent my proof of vaccination to HR. I sent in my exemption and received emails stating that I would have modified conditions of employment because I was not vaccinated. I knew where this was going, the future of my employment looked grim, so I resigned. I thought about fighting HR but I knew from others that this was futile. Draconian measures were rigidly in place and I knew that my voice would not be heard. Unemployed and unable to apply for any job, I had to find ways to financially survive. Unemplyed for 10 months just because I refused to get the covid jab.

My 17 year old, completing year 12 had her final exams wearing a mask, during 30 degree days, through all exams! The stress on my two children was unnecessary and traumatic. So much so that my daughter decided that going to University the following year, wearing a mask and following QR checkins was unbearable and opted not to study.

Just this week, June 2023, the vaccine mandates finally dropped at my past workplace – 20 months later. I just received a call from my past employer asking me to come back, that I am a “valued member”. Pure descrimation is how I perceive this from a corrupt, over reaching government alongside greedy pharmaceutical companies that don’t care about my health or my childrens health. 

I was one of the lucky ones to escape vaccine injuries. My heart is saddened for those who took this experimental jab and have lost their lives or have become very unwell. Many lost their houses, businesses, love ones could not be with family in hospitals, so many died alone and forgotten, some took their lives. I have lost trust in government, society, some friends and family. I have learnt that there are others like me who are wise, strong and have been changed. The damage that has been inflicted on the citizens of the world should be known and should not be forgotten. Those that are responsible for the injuries, deaths, should be held to account and this should never be repeated in any format – for a so called fake climate crisis, for a so called fake foreign war or any other false reason to control the people. The people are waking up and deserve justice.
